We've been to the Cafe Sunflower many times and have enjoyed our meals. Our service was helpful and prompt, and in general, the food was delicious. We had taken a guest from out of town with us, and they also loved the food. The only downside to the whole experience cannot be discussed in detail since it violates the Review Guidelines. Let's just say that on more than one occasion, the food was a little too organic. Recognizing that things happen even in the finest of establishments, we were not put off by the experience, but we were disappointed with how the management handled it. One expects some type of recognition and compensation for a less than pleasing experience with the food, but all we got was a perfunctory apology and a check for the full price of the meal. Not good enough as far as we're concerned especially in light of the cost of the food at this place, and we will not be returning.

It is difficult to find healthy restaurants when you are trying to lose weight, but Sunflower Cafe is a rare exception. The food is mostly vegetarian and healthy, but tastes great. I love the veggie pita with sunflower seeds. I have been on a strict weight loss program that uses shakes and meal replacements, but also allows me to eat fruits and vegetables, so this restaurant has become one of my favorites in the city. You can't go wrong, even if you aren't trying to lose weight.

Since I'm vegan, I do most of my own cooking, and have a circuit of vegetarian restaurants my fiance and I go to when we feel like eating out. It's quite possible to muddle through at a conventional restaurant, particularly since Asian restaurants tend to have a reasonable assortment of tofu dishes, but interrogating staff about ingredients gets tiresome. Egg and milk solids lurk in unlikely places. Both locations of Cafe Sunflower are on my list of vegan-friendly restaurants, and this past weekend we ate at the Sandy Springs location. I ordered the bento box, which is listed as a starter, but constitutes a full meal by my standards. It was wonderful. It consisted of red pepper hummus (the only pink hummus I've ever tasted), basil rolls, something called a Sandy Spring roll (a spring roll cut in diagonals), potstickers, and a thin cake made of spaghetti squash on a bed of spinach. I'm an intown guy, but in one respect I envy those who live near Roswell Road and Hammond Drive. They have the World Peace Cafe on one side of Roswell Road and the Sunflower Cafe on the other.

My husband and I decided to try Cafe Sunflower after hearing good reviews. I should mention that neither of us are currently vegetarian but we do eat healthy. The food was delicious! I would recommend this restaurant to both vegetarians and meat eaters. The food was fresh, tasty and best of all healthy!

Forget the fact that Cafe Sunflower is vegetarian. This place serves some of the best food in Atlanta period. I was actually introduced to Cafe Sunflower by a hamburger slamming red-blooded American who claims to hate "all that vegetarian stuff". But he makes an exception for this place and I could tell why. 4 to 5 star cuisine in terms of the quality, creativity and presentation. They serve lots of dishes that will definitely appeal to meat eaters and vegetarians alike. A lot of places serve 'imitation' meals that taste like...well...imitation meals, i.e. Fried Chik N', etc. But this place's dishes are extremely flavorful and I dare you to try and tell the difference between it and the real thing. Plus, you won't be clogging your arteries/colon with hard to digest meat and you'll have a clean conscious after your meal. And the desserts...lets just say almost every time I'm there people are coming in just to eat them. Try it...you'll thank me.
