hate this school

I'm a current student in the Nail Technician program at The International School of Skin and Nails. When I became a student I was so happy, I was going to be getting the education I needed to pursue my career. On the very first day of class I was unsure about the Instructor. She allowed everyone to talk loud and be very disruptive. After a few days I thought well maybe because we just began and things were going to take time. As time progressed. I realized that the Instructor namely Ms. Aisha Greene was very unprofessional. She never recorded our grades right so that we got credit for our test on our progress reports. Sometimes she even has a man that is supposed to be security set in her our class room while she teach and when it came down to anatomy lesson the had him remove his shirt in front of the class when he was supposed to be outside making sure everything is okay. She is never consistent in her grading, Example, I had been getting credit for one of our requirements to graduate and one day she just decides not to give me credit because I have not had a Demonstration on the required project. Note, she had been giving me credit and just one day out the blue she did not give me credit for my work. she wants everybody to go at her pace which is slow and it seems as if we never get all the proper things we need done in a timely matter. Now, the school issues, I don't appreciate how they do not keep up with or hours. We have to chase them down in the office just to make sure we get our hours, because if we don't we would never know when we would be graduating. All of progress reports are always wrong. Why give us a report card if the hours and the grades are wrong, again this falls back on the instructor who will never seem to turn in our information the office on time. I really hate this school and do not recommend anyone to attend. It will not be worth your time. Keeeeeeeep Awaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!!!!!!!!!!!!Another Issue, is that students equipment are being stolen out of there boxes in t

Hours are not correct

I was disappointed because after reading the wonderful reviews, I decided to try it. I looked up the hours on the website which stated that they participated in nail services until 9:30 pm. I arrived at 8:45 and they turned me away. They stated that they didn't start any new services after 7 pm. Additionally, I tried to call before I went and just got an answering machine.

Be Early and don't go on lunch!!

The first time I went it was for the deep pore facial and it was wonderful. Even though I shared a room with another technician and her client it was quiet and relaxing (less the sounds of students being paged over the intercom). The techs are generally professional and not chatty and the experience was wonderful especially for the price. The facial itself was better than those I've gotten at professional spas, though as stated by everyone else, the ambience does indeed leave something to be desired. The next time I went it was for a pedicure, and I was positive that the tech had no idea what she was doing. She was very nice and conversational, but I was not relaxed and her instructor had to be called in a few times. All-in-all, the experience was not terrible (again considering the price) and my toes turned out quite well when it was all said and done, but it took about two hours, and I was delighted that I had cancelled my subsequent manicure.

Ok, but not consistent

I've been going here for sometime now. Depending on who you get it's either a great treatment for the price or it leaves you wishing you hadn't spent the money. My biggest complaint is that they are NEVER ON TIME. My last appointment was for a 60 microderm, which I have had in the past and was wonderful. This time the girl was over 20 mins. late, rushed thorugh my appointment to catch up and I was still charged for 60 min. The location and parking aren't bad, but be prepared to wait. They are not the most organized spa out there.

Great Value for Services!

I booked an appointment for a spa mani/pedi here after hearing from a co-worker that they were very santiary and prices were very reasonable. I went there, and when I saw the setting, I was a little apprehensive. There are bare bones teaching stations, harsh lighting, and noisy intercom calls. I did notice it was crowded, and they had a lot of clients. However, once I was getting my pedicure, I was able to relax. The students are vey accomodating and very nice. They are also very particular about their work, as they constantly ask if it's to your liking and are very detailed with their work. The parrafin treatment was wonderful, along with their exfoliating scrub, which I was a little disappointed that they don't sell. The student that gave my foot massage was so wonderful I fell asleep in the chair! Also, they will inspect feet carefully and repeatedly bleach and disinfect everything. If you have any sort of infection, they will not allow you to get your nails done and will refer you to a doctor. The whole thing (spa mani and pedi) only cost me $26, a real deal. I will definitely come back here, and will try out their facials; the woman who did my nails said they are excellent, and for their prices, a real deal. Just remember when you come here, it's not for a "nice atmosphere", it's a school, and you are there just for the services and nothing else.
